Salem, IN
(February 1, 2008) – Officials from the famed Music City
Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee have
released plans for an impressive "2008 Spring Clash" event on
March 28th & 29th. The event will include the All
American 150 for the CRA Super Series late models, a 75-lap
event
for
the O’Reilly USA Modified Series and a special-points 75-lap
Shoot-out event between the CRA Street Stocks and the MCM
Sportsman.
This
will be the third season in a row that the CRA Super Series has
opened its point’s season at the famed oval with a 150-lap event.
The Saturday night, March 29th event will be a tune-up to
the prestigious Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 on Sunday,
November 2nd. The All American 150 will pay $5000 to win,
but more importantly, the top three finishers will have a guaranteed
start for the CRA sanctioned Adam Petty Memorial All American 400.
Fans
saw a spectacular race at last seasons CRA event in the spring, when
famed Wisconsin driver Nathan Haseleu raced side by side with his
friend and fellow northern driver Josh Vadnais over the last 10
laps. Haseleu beat Vadnais to the line from the fourth turn to win
his first-ever famed Copley Guitar Trophy, traditionally awarded to
special event winners at the Music City Motorplex. Haseleu worked
the high groove, giving Vadnais the low groove over those last ten
laps. Vadnais actually led lap 146, but Haseleu would grab the lead
back for good on the next lap, going on for the victory. Georgia
ace, Russell Fleeman finished a close third, trying to get his shot
at a win over the last 10 laps before settling for third. Dennis
Schoenfield came from 30th to finish fourth and 2007 CRA Super
Series Champion Chris Gabehart finished fifth.
This
will be the first ever appearance for the CRA Street Stocks at the
Music City Motorplex. The CRA Street Stock rules are close enough
that the MCM Sportsman can either remove their spoiler and run under
their rules, or choose to run under the CRA rules. Both groups are
already on the 8" Hoosier Comanche. A quality purse has been posted
with $1500 to win, $1000 for second, down to $100 to start for the
75-lap feature. This race will serve as a tune-up for a major Street
Stock event that is tentatively planned for later in the year at the
Music City Motorplex. Because of the required travel and combined
groups, this will not be a full-points event for the CRA Street
Stocks, only 25 appearance points will be awarded to all cars in
attendance and their will be no entry fee for all CRA Street Stock
Licensed Members.
The always-exciting O’Reilly USA Modified Series will join the two
CRA groups for the 2008 Spring Clash event. The 75-lap event will be
the season opener for the O’Reilly USA Modified Series. The series
last competed at the Music City Motorplex in the Fall Brawl this
past October in a 125 lap North/South Shootout. Indiana’s Tony Dager
came away with the win, holding off fellow Indiana racer Scott
Tomasik and 2007 O’Reilly USA Modified Series Champion Bob Curry for
the victory. The event is expected to attract the top Modified
racers from all over the Midwest and South.
The
2008 Spring Clash Weekend will kick off with an open practice for
all three divisions on Friday, March 28th. Pits will open
at 12noon Central Time; practice will start at 3:30pm and will go
until 7:30pm. Pits will open on Saturday, March 29th at
9am, practice will begin at 12noon, with qualifying starting at 4pm.
The race program will begin at 7pm on Saturday with last chance
races first, then the three feature events starting with the 75-lap
event for the O’Reilly USA Modified Series, followed by the
All-American 150 for the CRA Super Series, and ending with the
75-lap CRA Street Stock/MCM Sportsman Shoot-out.
The
O’Reilly USA Modified Series and the CRA Street Stocks are
tentatively scheduled to join the ASA Southeast Series and the CRA
Super Series for the Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 Weekend at
the Music City Motorplex on October 31st, November 1st
& 2nd.
