Rodney Scott Masters
the High Banks of Winchester
6/10/2007
Winchester
Speedway presented Randolph County Appreciation Day with the
much anticipated O’Reilly USA Modifieds highlighting the event.
32 modifieds made the trek to the high bank facility for the
prestige of winning at the famous speedway. Several cars were
sidelined due to mechanical issues prior to qualifying. Proud
new papa Scott Coe looked to be a fierce competitor until a
cracked piston left him loading early. Chris Neuenschwander
felt the wrath when they broke a rocker before ever hitting the
track and Gary Bedell broke a motor during practice. Dave Stacy
grabbed fast time with a 16.641 for the event only to have
transmission woes problems that would keep him from the main
event. Tim Taylor clenched the dash race with Bobby Murany
taking the heat race victory. Tony Dager won the Ludco Gun Shop
B Main.
Normally only 24
cars would start the main event for the O’Reilly USA Modifieds
but the officials of the series along with the track made the
decision to start all of the remaining cars for the Ludco Gun
Shop 50. Fred Ludington of Ludco Gun Shop was the official
starter for the feature event. Scott Reeser and Bobby Murany
led the pack around to the green flag. Murany spent no time
jumping into the lead going into turn 1. Rodney Scott started
in the 7th position and worked his way around Brian
Nester, Jason Dietsch, Tim Taylor, among other to take the top
spot around lap 15. Tim Taylor was running a hard second on lap
23 when he was forced into the pit area because of an electrical
problem. Rodney Scott extended his lead as the race for 2nd
heated up as Murany, Brad Springer, Dietsch and Nester all
battled for the position. Springer looked to the inside of
Murany with only a few laps to go and made it stick to take over
second. When the white flag waved Nester lost an engine going
into turn 2 and coasted into the pits with the checkered flags
waving. Rodney Scott was the victor of the Ludco Gun Shop 50
with Springer second followed by Murany, Diestch and Harold
Scott rounding out the top 5. Fast Qualifier Dave Stacy was
awarded the LEAF Racewear Hard Luck Award along with Trei Deubel
winning the AllStar Performance Hard Charger Award by advancing
9 spots in the event.
Next Saturday
Night the O’Reilly USA Modifieds will be in action at M-40
Speedway in Jones, Michigan featuring the Demon Carburetor 50.
One lucky competitor that attends the event will win a brand new
