Local racer Scott Moyer held off USA “Young Gun” Mike Hadley Jr. to win Sunday’s Labor Day Classic featuring USA Modifieds and HOSS Sprinters, at Angola Speedway, Angola IN.

Antwerp Ohio’s Todd Griggs would set the pace by capturing the “Firebottle Fast Time Award” with a time of 14.889 and a speed of 90.671 MPH. Second fast was Tim Burkett followed by Brad Springer, Mike Hadley Jr., Brian Nester, and Brent Hook.

The “Six Lap Dash” saw Brad Springer take the win over Tim Burkett and Brent Hook. Greenfield Indiana’s Damon Breedlove would come home victorious in the 10 lap heat race, while Chad Poorman in Todd Geraheart’s “Blue Goose” would take the “B main” over USA Rookie Steve Curry and Michael Gaier.

The feature draw put Mike Hadley Jr. on the pole with Scott Moyer outside. Brent Hook would take the inside second row starting spot with Bob Curry outside. Third row would be fast qualifier Todd Griggs with Tim Burkett outside.

With the drop of the green Scott Moyer would charge into the lead and never bobble as Mike Hadley Jr. would run on his bumper the whole race but could never get by. Caution would fly mid way when Terri Popielarz and Jonathan Martin would tangle off of turn two. Both were able to continue. It was Moyer’s first USA victory.

Chad Poorman would claim the “Allstar Performance Hard Charger Award” with a tenth place finish from seventeenth. The USA Modified Series next race will be Toledo Speedway on September 22nd and Anderson Speedway on the 23rd.
