DAGER DOMINATES USA TOLEDO 50
09.26.06
Toledo OH

Tony Dager claimed his second USA Feature victory of the 2006 season. In doing so he left no doubt that he is a threat to win any where. Driving the Economy Motors #0 he is quickly becoming USA’s version of the “Zero Hero” with fans through out the Midwest!
The evening would start out under threatening skies. Local driver Johnny Belott would take the “Firebottle Fast Time Award” with a lap of 16.783 as part of the 45 car field was set by practice times due to rain and time restraints. With qualifying set and track now dry the USA 6 lap dash was next. Dan “Governor” Loughan would start from the pole followed by Johnny Belott, Tony Dager, Bob Curry, Brian Nester, and Brent Jursik. Belott would get the jump on Loughan and take the Dash win.
Tim Burkett would take the heat win over Angola Speedway winner Scott Moyer, Mike Luberda, and Nick Clemens.
With 45 Mods on hand to race Toledo under the lights, two b-mains were needed to set the field. Dennis Prunty would capture the first and Todd Griggs the second, transferring to the main event.
Tony Dager and Scott Moyer would bring the now set field of USA Modifieds down to take the green. As the flag flew Moyer would make contact with the outside wall, spinning in front of the field collecting several Mods as everyone scrambled to miss each other. The red would be displayed to clean up the wrecked Mods that littered turn one. In all five cars would be lost to the first lap mishap, Brent Hook, Dave Stacy, Brian Nester, Mike Luberda, and Scott Moyer.
On the restart Tony Dager would charge into the lead, out gunning Nick Clemens on the start. The yellow would fly two more times, once for a spinning Terri Popielarz, and the final time for Dan Loughan who lost a rear end with ten to go. This set up the best race of the night as former USA Champ, Rodney Scott made a charge to the front from his fourteenth starting spot to challenge Bob Curry and Nick Clemens for second and third. At one point, Scott, working the high groove, had passed Curry who was tailing Clemens, but just could not get by. In the end Curry would run second followed by Scott and Clemens, as Tony Dager took the win, his second of the season.
Rookie “Young Gun” Steve Curry was the “Allstar Hard Charger” advancing fourteen spots to come home nineth.
The USA Mods next race is Historic Winchester Speedway October 14th for a co-sanctioned race with the American Modified Series.
