CURRY…AGAIN AT ORP “UAW NIGHT”
08.12.06
Indianapolis IN

Bob Curry triumphs for his fourth USA Mod feature win of ’06, on “UAW Night” at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indy.
There was a huge crowd on hand as O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indy honored United Auto Workers from central Indiana with a beautiful night of racing with the USA Modified Series and IRUL Trucks and Stock Cars. Thirty two Mods were on hand to try their luck at the famed 5/8 mile facility located in Clermont, Indiana, just on the west of Indianapolis.
Qualifying would find Jeff Weston from Noblesville, Indiana set the “Firebottle Fast Time Award” with a lap of 23.910 followed by Bob Curry at a 23.965, the Brian Pressley prepared machines of Brian Nester and Tim Burkett were third and fourth, former USA Champ Rodney Scott was fifth and rounding out the top six was Brad Springer with a 24.236.
Dash action saw “Flyin’ Brian Nester” take the win over Rodney Scott and Bob Curry.
The fast heat saw Greenfield Indiana’s Damon Breedlove start from the pole with Tom Jewell outside. At the drop of the green, Breedlove charged to the lead with Jewell and “Young Gun” Scotty Tomasik in hot pursuit. As Mike Stacy made his move to the front, inside Jewell down the back stretch, he made contact with Jewell sending both hard into the outside wall, ending both racers chances for the night. Breedlove would go on to win followed by Scotty Tomasik and ’05 USA Champ Harold Scott.
In B-main action Michigan’s Dan Frazier took the win over “Mr. Firebottle” himself Don Skaggs, Scott Resser and Mike Hadley Jr.
The draw would put Bob Curry on the pole followed by Tim Burkett, Jeff Weston, and Brad Springer. Curry and Burkett would run side by side for two laps before Curry would inch by and never look back for his fourth victory of the USA season. Burkett would run second after holding off several late charges from Rodney Scott. Enon, Ohio’s Dave Stacy picked up the “Allstar Hard Charger Award” with his fourth place finish coming from his eleventh starting spot.
The USA Modified Series is off this week as Mod racers travel to Shady Bowl Speedway for the American Modified Series $6000.00 to win show.
